Hear Thomas Rhett, Morgan Wallen's New Song 'Mamaw's House'

mamaws house

They haven't attended a single awards ceremony or math or science competition ever. If my grandparents and my uncle and aunt (his wife) didn't make an effort to show up, I'd never have anyone there. They have always been clear that I was an accident, a whoopsie, and when I wasn't musical like my dad and brother, or artistic like my mom and sister, they basically had no use for me, so Mamaw, PopPop, Grandma, and Grandpa took care of me most of the time. My grandparents are also the reason that we had food and electricity and the rent was paid because my parents are an artist and musician and didn't make enough money, and wouldn't listen to their parents and get "real" jobs to take care of us. I am a math and science nerd, something all of my grandparents always encouraged, so if I was spoiled it was only by their attention. They didn't believe in a lot of presents, so if they weren't giving them to all of us we didn't get them, and we always got practical stuff like clothes and shoes for Christmas and birthdays.

Dad's always been pissed that my grandparents paid for my uncle's law school and my aunts teaching degree but wouldn't pay for him to study music, but Grandpa says he would have paid for it if Dad also studied something practical like Accounting or even welding. My best friend says I'm just catching the generational bullcrap and it's rolled down on me early, and I got caught in the crossfire. I can appreciate art and music and make an effort to show that I care about the things that they do and care about, but they don't return the favor.

So who else from the hit Bravo show should snag a ticket to this not-so-elite function? It takes courage to carry a baby to term when facing uncertainty and hurdles, in fact it may seem impossible. Whether they choose to parent or place the child in a loving family through adoption, they will have the opportunity to find courage within themselves at Mama’s House.

Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen, ‘Mamaw’s House’: Story Behind the Song

After celebrating 21 chart-topping hits in a matter of just 10 years, Thomas Rhett enters the second decade of his career notching his 22nd career No. 1 with “Mamaw's House (feat. Morgan Wallen)." I’ll be right back,” Wallen tells his buddies, before his grandma is heard over the loudspeakers saying, “What’s up Morgan? ” Soon after, the song kicks off, with Wallen helming the first verse and chorus. Instead of opting for an over-the-top narrative, Rhett and Wallen simply let their heartfelt sentiments paint a moving picture of what spending time with their mamaws has always been like. The result is a universally relatable song that'll take listeners back to their childhood years spending time with grannies.

Rhett released the song as a way to thank his grandmother along with the fans to reach out to theirs. Mamaw used to tell me how dogs can't see in color, so they can't really appreciate a rainbow, and that my achievements and interests were just something my parents couldn't appreciate. All this is making me miss her more, my Grandma is awesome but Mamaw was the one I spent the most time with when I was little and maybe it's stupid but thinking about this and the fact that the money only exisisted because she and Poppop died is making me angry and sad. I'm going to graduate next month and I don't think my parents even care, I know my grandparents do but the fact that only half of them will be there is getting to me today. Topping the Mediabase/Country Aircheck and Billboard Country Airplay charts this week, Rhett and Wallen wrote the track with Matt Dragstem and Chase McGill.

Whose House? Well, ‘Mamaw’s House’ Apparently for Thomas Rhett and Morgan Wallen

It wasn't my parents money to spend, it was money left by my Mamaw to pay for all three of us kids to pay for college. My Mom's Aunt Teresa was in charge of it, and oversaw it being used to pay for my brothers college education. Then she died, and my parents wound up in charge of it, and are using the remaining amount, which should have been an excess of 180K according to what my brother says his education cost, to pay for my sisters fine arts degree and junior artist in residence opportunity.

My parents, dad especially, would have lost their minds if Grandma and Grandpa had been in charge because dad is still angry that they paid for lawschool for my uncle but wouldn't pay for him to study music. Which is funny because now they are paying for my sister to go to art school instead of me going to college to study science, and don't seem to see the problem. My uncle talking to Dad would only esculate things, Dad has always been angry that my grandparents paid for law school for my uncle but wouldn't pay for him to study music. My grandparents say they would have covered it but he also had to study something practical and he refused to. My grandparents are/were very practical people who definitely disaproved of their artsy, impractical kids, but were willing to pay bills and buy groceries so us kids were taken care of.

A Place Of Hope

I work, my grandparents sold me my Grandma's old car and let me make payments on it, but that's as close to being given anything as I have gotten. Though, who knows, maybe once I'm out my grandparents will stop, but my dad has always held the fact that they helped my uncle with law school but wouldn't finance his music dreams against them, so maybe that's part of the guilt. Since I didn't want music or art lessons, my parents never paid for anything, so my grandparents paid for my science team trips and let me buy my Grandma's old car so I could get a job and pay her back. If I'm spoiled it's only because my Grandma and Grandpa tell me how proud of me they are, and they are the only ones who do it. I'm probably a "brat" because I am resentful that so many adults I know, my grandparents friends and my friends parents, refer to me as "every parents dream child" and my own parents don't care.

I have already done the equivilant of 2+ years of community college through the dual enrollment program between our states community colleges and my highschool. That's why it's anticipated that I only need 5 semesters instead of 8 to complete my bachelors degree, and that's simply because my degree requires classes that have to be taken consecutively. I did that because I knew that the colleges with the program I was interested in were in state schools that would accept those transfer credits, and it meant less time in total getting my education. “The song describes my grandmothers and Morgan’s as well – we wanted to describe a small town piece of paradise. Growing up, I can remember going to both of my grandmothers’ houses in South Georgia. This song really hits home for me and I hope everyone feels the same,” Rhett explained via a press release.

This year, the Daily Mail proved to be an early frontrunner by inviting former Vanderpump Rules stars (and current The Valley stars) Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright — right in the middle of their new separation. But these two aren’t the only Vanderpump Rules stars to have breached nerd prom and shared a room with the president. Just last year, Ariana Madix, Lala Kent, and Lisa Vanderpump set the precedent — also invited by the Daily Mail — and even got to hear host Roy Wood Jr. joke about Scandoval in front of Joe Biden.

Through extensive and proven programs, our resident mothers will leave prepared to face a brighter future with newfound hope. The song opens with a voice memo of Wallen excusing himself as he takes his grandma’s phone call. Music Mayhem brings fans closer to their favorite artists with exclusive in-depth interviews, breaking news updates, and more.

The song elicited an immediate reaction from fans and was spontaneously added to Country radio stations across the country, rising to the top of the charts as well as garnering 94.6 MILLION streams globally. “Mamaw’s House” appears on Thomas Rhett’s just released retrospective 20 NUMBER ONES collection, crafted to honor earning 20 No. 1 hits in just 10 years. The 20-track project serves as a reflection of Rhett’s chart-topping success throughout his musical journey. The mid-tempo tune begins with Wallen telling a group of friends “sorry, my Mamaw called me, I’ll be right back” before leaving the room to talk to his late grandma.

The Georgia native continued to shared that neither him nor Wallen liked the song they were writing at the time, and they were about to just give up on the track. That is before Wallen’s Grandma called him and inspired them to keep writing. Momma’s House was established in 2019, to address supportive housing for people in Los Angeles County. Designed to provide up to 90 days of Transitional housing and client case management for individuals in need. Our Housing Program is offered through various opportunities including support from community-based organizations and county resources. Throughout the song, Rhett and Wallen reflect on their grandmas and the profound impact they made on each of their respective lives and how they found a safe space at their “Mamaw’s House.” The pair then join together to sing the track’s final chorus, showcasing their rich harmonies flawlessly.

“About midway through to 2020, Me and Morgan Wallen wrote a song together and I just kind of want to set the scene for you a real quick because obviously this was 2020, and we were writing the song over the dang internet, which was crazy,” Rhett previously explained during a concert in Bristow, Virginia. As a 29-year-old entrepreneur, he oversees content as the Editor-In-Chief for the independent brand. Wendowski, who splits time between Philadelphia, Penn., and Nashville, Tenn., has an extensive background in multimedia. Before launching Music Mayhem in 2014, he worked as a highly sought-after photojournalist and tour photographer, collaborating with such labels as Interscope Records and Republic Records.

He has captured photos of some of the biggest names, including Taylor Swift, Metallica, Harry Styles, P! NK, Morgan Wallen, Carrie Underwood, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Shania Twain, and hundreds more. Wendowski’s photos and freelance work have appeared nationwide and can be seen everywhere from ad campaigns to various publications, including Billboard and Rolling Stone. When Wendowski isn’t running Music Mayhem, he enjoys spending time at concerts, traveling, and capturing photos. Rhett, who just celebrated his 21st No. 1 single, with “Angels,” is thrilled to finally be able to put out the sentimental track.

I don't ask my parents for anything, because I know that I was an accident they didn't want. I paid for for my own graduation regalia and before I had a job my grandparents paid for things like my science club trips andhonestly, most of my food, and often the roof over my head until my Memaw died and left my mom a house, and even my clothes. My parents are bad with money and my grandparents constantly had to float them.
